There are people who buy cases of the best and most expensive bottled water, and that is all they drink. They excrete only a most rarefied pee. I would hazard a guess that the highest concentration of those people is in Los Angeles.

I think I should start praying now for the preservation of my sanity for the period of at least three years that I will spend studying there. That's a good idea. If I expect the worst of LA, it is more than likely that I will be pleasantly surprised.
